On Tuesday evening, Palestinian photographer Suleiman Hajji won second place in the “Aerial Photography” category in the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Photography Award in the Emirates.
The announcement of the victory of Hajji, who lives in Gaza City, came during the awards ceremony for the winning photographers in the eighth session entitled “Hope,” for which nearly 200,000 photographers competed, in the Dubai Opera Hall in the United Arab Emirates.
“Hope” was the title of the main axis of the course, as it is a global language - according to the award’s administration - in addition to the axis of a photographic file - black and white - color.
It also presented a number of special awards that included 3 categories: “Photographic Content Creators,” “Promising Photographic Personality/Institution,” in addition to the “Appreciation Award,” which is given to photographers who have contributed positively to the photography industry.
The award administration said that it enriched its eighth session, “Hope,” with a new theme, “Aerial Photography on Video,” after the remarkable success of the “Time Lapse” theme that came in the previous session, which was met with public passion that was touched by the award.
The Secretary General of the Award, Ali Bin Thalith, announced that he left the freedom of choice to the judges in choosing the winning photo for the grand prize from any of its axes, amounting to $120,000, to expand the scope of the competition.
Hajji, who has won several awards in the field of photography, lives in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, east of Gaza City, and works as a documentary filmmaker for several Arab and international channels.
