Tariq Sharif Hussein Saeed Ali
Mansour Al-Karmi (March 23, 1975) is a prominent Palestinian poet and writer.
He was born and raised in the Palestinian city of Tulkarm. He has a collection
of poetry collections, and he has won several awards and honors.

Tariq Sharif Hussein Saeed Ali
Mansour Al-Karmi was born in the city of Tulkarem on March 23, 1975 AD,
corresponding to Rabi` al-Awwal 11, 1395 AH. He received his primary,
preparatory, and secondary education in the schools of his hometown, Tulkarm;Where he joined Taha Hussein Elementary School in the city in 1981, then Nour
Al-Din Zanki School in the preparatory stage in 1987, and he spent his
secondary education in the historical Al-Fadeliyah School, from which he
obtained his high school diploma in 1991. After that, he joined An-Najah
National University, from which he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business
Administration in 1996.
He worked as an employee in the
Palestinian Ministry of Information, taught solfege and played the flute, then
became a media professional, and worked as a preparer and presenter of poetry
programs on local radio stations such as Bilad and Aman.
Tariq al-Karmi lived in a family
famous for science and literature. His ancestors and relatives were: the
scholar and minister Saeed bin Ali al-Karmi, the politician Abd al-Ghani Saeed
al-Karmi, the writer Ahmed Shaker bin Saeed al-Karmi, the linguist Hassan Saeed
al-Karmi, the writer Mahmoud Saeed al-Karmi, Sheikh Ali Mansour al-Karmi, and
the scholar Zuhair Mahmoud Al-Karmi, and writer Ghada Hassan Al-Karmi.
his literary career
He is one of the prominent
Palestinian poets of the generation of the second half of the twentieth
century, and he was encouraged by the Palestinian House of Poetry in its
beginnings. He composed poetry of all kinds, vertical and free, and has poems
of rhythm and prose. “The poet Tariq Al-Karmi is unique in his synthetic
manifestations in regenerating the language according to his innovative vision
of it, and for what it gives him in the growing context of poetic ability to
generate images, allusions and intense symbols.” He is a member of the General
Union of Writers and Writers Palestinians, the Syrian Writers Association, and
others.
The poet Murad Sudani,
Secretary-General of the Palestinian Writers’ Union, described him, saying: “I
sided with my friend, the poet Abd al-Rahim al-Sheikh, and the poetry of Tariq
al-Karmi. This was my opinion that I expressed at Birzeit University in the
mid-1990s and I still insist on it.”
The Tunisian poet Taher Al-Bakri
chose him in his book “Poetry from Palestine” published in French in 2013,
along with Tamim Al-Barghouti, Bassem Al-Nabris, Najwan Darwish, Natalie
Handal, Fadi Joudeh, Zakaria Muhammad, Ibrahim Nasrallah, Dima Al-Shihabi and
Ghassan Zaqtan, and they “belong to the generation that followed.” Darwish's
generation strongly translates the complexity and diversity of situations and
paths.

for Young Palestinian Poets, 1996.
Yasser Arafat Prize for Young Poets.
Appreciation Award in Tunisia, 2016.
Appreciation award in the Sultanate
of Oman, from the Omani Minister of Culture and Heritage, Haitham bin Tariq bin
Saeed.
Merit award in France.
