Jalal Erekat (1953-2013) a Jordanian/Cypriot visual artist of Palestinian origin. He was known for his experimental methods and his defense of the environment through a series of exhibitions he organized starting in the nineties of the twentieth century in the Jordanian capital, Amman, and in Arab and foreign capitals, in which he presented a group of works that depend on the art of recycling, and for that he won Arab and international awards.
his career
Erekat was born in Limassol, Cyprus in 1953, and he is from the town of Abu Dis, east of Jerusalem, in Palestine. He obtained a Fine Arts Diploma in 1973, and is a member of the Jordanian Plastic Artists Association, the European and Mediterranean Artists Association, and the Jordanian Environmental Society. Culture inside and outside Jordan, and he accomplished a number of sculptures, especially during his participation in the Amman International Symposium for Sculpture Art.
He also participated in more than 200 group exhibitions from 1975 to 2010 inside and outside Jordan, including the following countries: Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Kuwait, Sultanate of Oman, Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Yemen, Cyprus, Spain, Belgium , Britain, America, China, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Azerbaijan. He also published several books on teaching arts to children, and worked in the field of graphics and children's arts, in the field of interior design and architecture, and he won many art competitions in the field of painting, sculpture and graphics. During the last years of his life, the artist Jalal Erekat owned a private studio in the cultural village of Al-Hussein Gardens of the Greater Amman Municipality, where he completed many paintings and recycling works.

Jalal Erekat passed away in Amman on Monday, October 28, 2013, at the age of sixty. He suffered a sudden stroke for a week.
