Iqbal Al-Assaad is the youngest female doctor in the world. She joined Weill Cronell College to study medicine in Qatar before she was 13 years old. She managed to shorten the classes of her previous studies in the Bekaa Valley with an distinction that enabled her to be well-deserved as the world's first female doctor in terms of age. She entered the Guinness Book of Records, after graduating from medical school, to win a second world record after winning the title of the youngest university student, when she was thirteen years old.

Iqbal Mahmoud al-Assaad was born on February 2, 1993, to a Palestinian father and a Lebanese mother. She goes back to the village of Maghar al-Khayt in Safed. At the time of the Nakba, her family sought refuge in the Bekaa region in Lebanon, where her grandfather and his children worked in agriculture.

I finished kindergarten in one year only, and shortened the six primary classes by three years, while I finished the preparatory stages in only two years, then secondary school with distinction. She was awarded a scholarship by Sheikha Mozah, consort of the Emir of the State of Qatar.
Iqbal intends to specialize in pediatrics, so next June she will go to the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, USA, where she was accepted to work and study as a resident doctor.

 

Achievements and Awards

  • The Minister of Education at the time, Khaled Qabbani, invited her, honored her and promised to secure a scholarship, and she received a scholarship from Sheikha Mozah, and she studied general medicine in Qatar.

  • Lebanese President Michel Suleiman Iqbal honored Iqbal with an appreciation award.
