Muhammad Ali al-Khouli (Abu Majdi; 1939 - December 19, 2019) is a Palestinian writer, writer, author and linguist, born in the Palestinian city of Tulkarm. He is the author of a large collection of literary, linguistic and intellectual works.

Muhammad Ali Al-Khouli was born in the city of Tulkarm in Palestine in 1939. He received his education in the schools of his city, then joined Dar Al-Moalemeen College in Amman, from which he obtained a diploma in 1958. After that, he joined the American University in Beirut, from which he obtained in 1966 both diplomas in the art of education, A BA in English. In 1971, he obtained a master's degree in applied linguistics and English from the same university, then he obtained a doctorate in applied linguistics and English from the same university in 1975.

He worked as an English language teacher in Jordan’s schools from 1958 until 1963, then as a lecturer of English at Al Hussein College in Jordan from 1966 until 1967. He then went to Abu Dhabi, where he worked as an English language teacher from 1967 to 1971, and then as a teacher of the English language in Kuwait from 1971 to 1975.

He worked as a professor of English at the University of Riyadh from 1975 to 1990, then a professor of English at the University of Isra in Jordan from 1991 to 1998, and a professor of English at Philadelphia University of Jordan from 1998 to 2002, then a professor of English at Al-Zaytoonah University Jordanian.

He was Dean and Head of the English Department for twelve years in several Arab universities, and participated in a number of international conferences on English language, language teaching and translation, and is a member of several scientific societies, including the International English Language Association (TESOL) in the United States of America, and the Association of Professors The English language in Arab universities, the Jordanian Translation Association, and others.

 

Achievements and Awards

Muhammad Ali Al-Khouli received a number of awards and honors, most notably the “Personality of the Year Award 2018-2019 in the field of teaching Arabic to non-native speakers” from the “Union of Teachers of Arabic to Speakers of Other Languages”.
