Dr. Aziz Salem Murtada Al-Dweik (Abu Hisham) (born in Cairo on January 12, 1948-), is an architect, university professor, and Palestinian politician from Hamas in the West Bank. He was elected on February 18, 2006 as Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council.

Born in Cairo to an Egyptian mother and a Palestinian father from Hebron, he is married and the father of seven sons and daughters. He lives today in the Jamea neighborhood in Hebron.

He holds a doctorate in regional and urban planning from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, USA. He has three master's degrees in: education, city planning, and regional and urban planning

He founded and headed the Geography Department at An-Najah National University in Nablus for several years. He is the Public Relations Officer for the Patient Friends Association. He had a prominent role in supervising several PhD theses.

His political activity
He is considered one of the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood in Palestine, and he belonged early to the Hamas movement and became one of its activists and poles. He was their English spokesman. He was one of the deportees of Marj al-Zohour in 1992, accompanied by more than 415 Islamic activists, and he was one of the most important companions of Dr. Abdel Aziz al-Rantissi in the deportation. After his return from Marj al-Zohour, he left political work and devoted himself to study and educational attainment, while Rantisi took over the reins of affairs in Hamas after the assassination of Ahmed Yassin in March 2004 until he was assassinated by Israeli helicopters in April 2004.

He was nominated on the Change and Reform List in the Palestinian legislative elections that took place in 2006, and is the fourth speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council after Ahmed Qurei, Rawhi Fattouh and Hassan Khreisheh

He was arrested in Israeli prisons more than 5 times. On June 29, 2006, the Israeli army arrested him, when it was reported that 20 military vehicles surrounded his house in Ramallah to arrest him. He was detained for three years, during which time he suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure. He was released on June 23, 2009, after the Israeli court rejected the prosecution's request to extend his detention for lack of evidence. He was later arrested in June 2014 after the kidnapping of three settlers, and was released on June 9, 2015.

On December 16, 2018, the Palestinian Authority’s apparatus prevented holding a press conference called for before the Legislative Council in Ramallah in response to the Constitutional Court’s decision to dissolve the Council.

On June 22, 2020, his house in Hebron was attacked with a grenade thrown by unknown assailants, which did not result in human casualties.
