TEACHING EXPERIENCE
COURSES TAUGHT AT UNIVERSITY OF JORDAN
1-Introduction to pathology, this course covers inflammation, cell injury and neoplasia. I organized
the course and taught parts of it from 2014 till now.
2-Introduction to immunology: this is a 2-credit hour course that I taught to third year medical
students in the first semester of the 2017/18 academic year. I also organized the course
during that semester.
3-Diseases of the respiratory system, I taught the pathology part of this module for third year
medical students from 2015 till 2019.
4-Diseases of the GI system, I taught the pathology part of this module for second year medical
students from 2015 till 2018.
5- Diseases of the endocrine system: I taught the pathology part of this module for second
year medical students from 2016 till now.
6 - Diseases of the central nervous system: I taught the pathology part of this module for second
year medical students from 2016 till now.
7- pathology 1 for dental students, I participated in teaching this course to third year medical
students in the academic year 2015/16
8- Pathology 2 for dental students, I participated in teaching this course to third year dental
students during the academic year 2015/16.
9- During all the above courses I obtained a very high students’ feedback evaluation which
was consistently above 3.8 out of 4.
COURSE ORGANIZATION:
1- Head of the systems’ committee for the academic years 2018/19 and 2019/2020.
2- Lead of the blended learning in the faculty of medicine for the academic year 2018/2019.
3- Organizer of the CNS module from 202016 till now.

POSTGRADUATE TEACHING
1- Our histopathology department at Jordan University Hospital runs a four year academic
program in Histopathology specializations. We also have non-academic scheme with trainees
from Jordan and from outside the country.
2-I am fully engaged with teaching residents during cut up sessions, histopathology and cytopathology
reporting as well as in structured lectures, slide seminars and journal clubs.
3- I am a supervisor of a student studying for the Master’s degree of science in medical laboratory
sciences. The thesis is about PDL1 expression in breast cancer among Jordanian
patients.
4- I participated in examining and discussing a thesis of Master’s degree student. The title
of the theses discussed is: Prevalence of Programmed cell death ligand 1 expression in gastric
cancer and its association with clinicopathological factors. April 2019.
OTHER TEACHING EXPERIENCE
-I was involved in teaching one of the practical pathology courses to medical and dental students
at Jordan University Medical School, during the academic year of 1997/1998. I have
demonstrated the features in histology slides and surgical specimens to the students.
-My training in Bashir Hospital included preparing and delivering lectures, case presentations
and seminars to medical staff in department and hospital. These activities were carried
weekly. I prepared seminars on different topics including acute inflammation, shock, lung tumours
and CNS tumours (two seminars on gliomas and two on meningiomas).
-I gave two lectures for the biomedical science technologists at Manchester Royal Infirmary:
Diseases of the respiratory system on 3/1/06, and General microbiology on 24/1/06.
-I gave a lecture in the MRCPath course about audit at the Christie hospital, UK on 12/9/05.
-Post mortem teaching at the mortuary for police and nursing students as well as cut up teaching
and supervision for the SHOs at Manchester royal Infirmary, UK.
-I have attended the “Teaching skills for specialist registrars” course, North West Deanery,
UK, on 15 and 16 /6/2006
CONFERENCES:
1. XXXIII International Congress of the International Academy Of Pathology 14-18 October
2018. King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre, Amman Jordan. I was a Local Facilitator
in this Conference and I chaired a session.
2. 9th International Conference of the Royal Medical Services.30 October -2 November 2018.
I was a guest speaker and gave a lecture titled: Eosinophilic Colitis: Current understanding
with emphasis on clinic-pathological features.
3. The third International Conference For the school of medicine, the University of Jordan. I
chaired a session in this conference.
4. Medical Education Student Conference: 29-31 August, Amman, Jordan. I was a guest
speaker and gave a lecture titled: How to get the best out of Medicine.
AUDIT EXPERIENCE
1. I was the audit lead at Tameside Acute NHS Trust, UK, for four years 2007-2011
2. I have given a lecture about audit in histopathology and cytopathology in the MRCPath
course, Christie Hospital, Manchester, UK, on 12/9/2005.
3. I have reviewed all cases of tuberculosis, which were diagnosed in our department in
Bashir Hospital /Jordan between 1998 and the year 2000 (total of 66 cases). The biopsies involved
included skin, kidney, colon and lymph nodes. We found that the clinical diagnosis of
tuberculosis was missed in about half of these cases.
4. I participated in a study done in Bashir Hospital which aimed at comparing the results of
thyroid FNAs with the results obtained from the histological sections between the years
1996-1999.
5. I undertook an audit about the completeness of our reporting of breast carcinoma cases
compared to the Royal College Minimum Data Set, done at Hope Hospital, UK, 2002. This
has been presented to the department.
6.Thyroid audit: Comparing the results of the FNAs cytology with resection specimens
of all thyroid cases reported between 1996 and 2002 at Lancaster Royal Infirmary. This audit
has been presented to the department and a copy sent to the surgeons.
7.Prostate audit: Comparison of Gleason grading in FNA and Prostatectomy specimens, Preston
Hospital, UK, 2003.
8.Turnaround time of gastric and colorectal malignancies at Manchester Royal Infirmary,
UK, 2005. This audit was presented at the departmental audit meeting.
9.I have collected the data for a regional audit about completeness of our reporting of colorectal
cancer cases compared to the Royal College Data Set at Trafford General Hospital
2006, the data has been sent to Stepping Hill where the regional audit is being carried out.
10.Adequacy of fine needle aspiration of head and neck lesions at Trafford General Hospital,
UK, 2006. This was presented at a departmental meeting.
11.Assessment of duodenal biopsies at Trafford General Hospital, 2006. This was presented
at the hospital audit meeting. The audit has been submitted to the Royal College of
Pathologists.
