Yujeen Qatran is the first Arab jurist who heads the Privy Council of Elizabeth II in the United Kingdom.
He was born in Al-Baq'a Neighborhood, Jerusalem (1938) for a family originally from Acre (Akka), Northern Palestine. Received his early education in Jerusalem. Yujeen fled Palestine to Egypt in 1947 at the age of 9 years.
Yujeen is the son of Michel Qatran, who was the secretary of the register until the end of the British Mandate of Palestine. Yujeen joined Victoria College in Alexandria, which was established by the British in 1900.
In 1954, Qatran enrolled at the University of Leeds where he received his Bachelor's degree in Law in 1958.
In 1959, Yujeen joined Trinity Hall College in the University of Cambridge in order to obtain a higher certificate in International Law. Qatran married Kristin Fireno in 1963. He spent several years working as a lecturer in SOAS University of London. Qatran holds the British nationality.
Yujeen worked at Dengel Foot Law Firm and later (along with Dezmond de Silva) became its chairman. In 1971, he received his Doctoral degree in Law from the University of London. He died in 2014 at the age of 75.
