Lawahiz Awni Abdel-Hadi was born in Nablus and studied at the Aisha School. She completed her secondary education at the Dar al-Mu'allimat College in Jerusalem, receiving her Palestinian matriculation certificate in 1945. She earned a diploma in education from the same college in 1946.

In 1972, she completed a one-year educational guidance course held in Beirut by the UNESCO Training Institute for UNRWA supervisors. She graduated from Birzeit University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Arabic Language with honors. She worked as a teacher at the Aisha Secondary School from 1946 to 1957. From 1957 to 1960, she worked as a senior Arabic language teacher at the Girls' College in Aden, Yemen.

She also taught at the Teachers' Training College in Aden and served as an Arabic language supervisor in girls' schools from 1960 to 1962. She returned to Nablus and worked as a supervisor for UNRWA schools in the Hebron and Bethlehem area from 1962 to 1964. She became the Director of Education for the Hebron District for UNRWA schools from 1964 to 1967. She was then transferred to a similar position in the Nablus area, where she remained until her retirement in 1987. From a young age, Lawahiz Abdel Hadi was involved in social activism and charitable organizations.

Among her most prominent roles in various charitable and public organizations were the presidency of the Arab Women's Union and the presidency of the Northern Branch of the General Union of Palestinian Women. She participated in several conferences, including the founding conference of the General Union of Palestinian Women in 1965, the Geneva International Conference on Palestine in 1990, and the Sana'a Women's Conference in support of the Arab people in Iraq in 1990. She was awarded the Nablus Municipality Shield on March 8, 1997, and the Charitable Societies Shield in 1998.
