Dr. Majdi Awda is an Associate Professor and the Dean of the College of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, as well as the Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence at the Arab American University (AAUP), Ramallah campus. With extensive international teaching experience, he has previously served at institutions such as Manchester Metropolitan University (UK) and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (China).
Dr. Awda is a bilingual academic fluent in Arabic and English, specializing in artificial intelligence, digital forensics, data science, cybercrime, and natural language interfaces. His teaching portfolio includes both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in programming (Java, Python, C#, VB), computer forensics, digital forensics, data mining, cybercrime, and enterprise programming using modern frameworks such as Spring and Hibernate.
Dr. Awda’s research focuses on information extraction, social network crime prevention, conversational agents for databases, forensic analysis, and financial crime detection. He has authored numerous conference papers, articles, technical reports, and book chapters published in high-impact venues. His most notable works include The Reflectance of Human Skin in the Millimeter-Wave Band, Credibility Assessment of Financial Stock Tweets, and A Natural Language Interface to Relational Databases Using an OLAP Hypercube. He is also known for his pioneering contributions to crime detection on social media and financial discussion boards using natural language processing techniques.
