Dr. Mohieddin Al-Asali obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from An-Najah National University and was ranked first in his class. He worked as a research and teaching assistant at the same university for one year. Then he received a scholarship from the Spanish government to obtain a Master’s degree in Advanced Studies in Chemistry in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Seville / Spain.
Then he received another scholarship from AECID / Spain to complete his PhD in Medicinal Chemistry and Nanomedicine from CICCARTUJA / CSIC- University of Seville - Spain. In 2013, he returned to An-Najah National University / Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences / Department of Pharmacy to continue his work as an Assistant Professor.
In 2019, Dr. Asali was promoted to Associate Professor in Medicinal Chemistry and Nanomedicine. His research interest is in the field of a) Pharmaceutical nanotechnology and activation of carbon nanotubes, gold nanoparticles, graphene, and other metal nanostructures for biomedical applications in cancer and infectious diseases. b) Synthesis of complex molecular compounds and their applications in medicine. c) Organic and medicinal chemistry; organic synthesis of biological molecules especially carbohydrate chemistry for their applications in viral and bacterial therapeutics.
