Rhoda Ann Kanaaneh is a Palestinian doctor born in Arraba in the Upper Galilee . She specializes in anthropology , sociology, and gender studies . She has three publications and works as a lecturer at American and European universities such as New York University and Harvard University. She is the daughter of Hatem Kanaaneh.
Her academic career
She received her Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1998 in anthropology, sociology, and culture, with a focus on militarization and globalization in the Middle East . In 2003, she was an assistant professor at American University in Washington , D.C. In 2008, she was a visiting professor in the Department of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies at New York University , and has lectured in anthropology and gender studies at New York University and Washington University. She has held fellowships at Harvard University, the European University Institute, and Columbia.
Its scientific publications
Her first book was titled, Birth of the Nation: Palestinian Women's Strategies in Israel, published by the University of California in 2002.
The second book, Insecurity: Arab Soldiers in the Israeli Army, was published in 2009.
Her third book was titled Homeless at Home: Ethnicity and Gender in Palestinian Society in Israel, published by Sunny Press in 2010. She edited it with Isis Nasir.
