Ghassan Abu-Sittah is a distinguished British-Palestinian Associate Professor of Surgery specializing in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. He obtained his medical education from the University of Glasgow in the U.K and completed his postgraduate residency training in London. He further honed his expertise through three prestigious fellowships: Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Kids (GOS), Cleft Surgery at GOS, and a fellowship in Trauma Reconstruction at the Royal London Hospital.

In 2011, he was recruited by the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC). Within a year, he ascended to the role of Head of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at AUBMC, concurrently serving as the Clinical Lead of its Pediatric War Injuries program and the War Injuries Multidisciplinary Clinic. In 2015, he co-founded and assumed the directorship of the Conflict Medicine Program at the Global Health Institute, American University of Beirut.

In 2020, he returned to the UK and continued his practice in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the private sector. He holds positions as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Center for Blast Injury Studies at Imperial College, University of London, and as a Visiting Senior Lecturer at the Conflict & Health Research Group at King's College London University. Additionally, he serves as the Clinical Lead for the Operational Trauma Initiative at the World Health Organization's EMRO Office.

Abu-Sittah is deeply committed to humanitarian efforts, serving on the board of directors of INARA, a charity dedicated to providing reconstructive surgery to war-injured children in the Middle East, and on the Board of Trustees of the UK-based Medical Aid for Palestinians. He also contributes to the UK's National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) International Funding Committee.

Abu-Sittah's extensive contributions to the field are evidenced by his prolific publication record, focusing on the health consequences of prolonged conflict and war injuries. Notably, he authored the medical textbook "Reconstructing the War Injured Patient" and is set to release a forthcoming book, "Treating the War Injured Child." His courageous work as a war surgeon in Yemen, Iraq, Syria, South Lebanon, and during the Gaza Strip's four wars has been recognized and featured by prominent newspapers and media outlets worldwide, including Le Monde, The Independent, Telegraph, BBC, and CNN.
