Weam Hamouda, Ph.D., serves as an assistant professor at the Institute of Public and Community Health at Birzeit University. She holds both a doctorate and master's degree in sociology from Brown University, as well as a master's degree in public and community health from Birzeit University. Dr. Hamouda's research is centered around examining political and social transformations and their impacts on physical and mental health, health and social systems, and population processes, with a particular focus on Palestine. She is actively engaged in research projects covering a wide range of topics including the well-being and mental health of young people, the health of adolescent refugee girls, deprivation, mental health, and the readiness of the health system to respond to Covid-19.
