The World Federation of
Orthodontists announced that the scientific research team supervised by the
Palestinian doctor and researcher Muhammad Younis Hajeer won the Thomas M.
Graber Prize for the best article in orthodontics.
The research titled,
"Evaluation of the effectiveness of low-energy laser versus
paracetamol-caffeine in the control of osteoarthritis pain and changes in oral
health-related quality of life in patients with Class I malocclusion: a
three-arm randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial".
The article was selected from among
a huge number of articles published in this magazine in 2022, which were
carefully evaluated by a jury.
Dr. Hajir congratulated his team,
which included researcher Dr. Amer Oweida, Associate Professor Dr. Rashad
Murad, Professor of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Damascus University, and
Professor Dr. Rabab Al-Sabbagh from the University of Hama, pointing out that
this victory increases an additional point that counts for the balance of Arab
researchers in general and orthodontists in particular. .
Regarding the criteria adopted by
the jury in selecting the winning article each year, Dr. Hajeer to Al-Awda News

distinguished article depends on several criteria: including the impact on the
profession, its relevance and closeness to professional practice, in addition
to originality, the scientific methodology used, and the way the results are

morning ceremony on April 24, 2023 on the sidelines of the American Congress of
Orthodontists.
It is noteworthy that Dr. Muhammad
Yunis Hajeer was born in Kuwait in 1972, a Palestinian-Syrian residing in
Syria, whose origins are from the town of Tira Haifa in Palestine. He obtained
a dental degree from the University of Aleppo in 1995 with the first rank in the
country and with a grade of excellence, and he obtained a doctorate in
orthodontics. From Britain in 2003 from the University of Glasgow. He also
previously obtained a master's degree in scientific research and biostatistics
in health and social care sciences from the British University of Sheffield.
He won the first prize for the best
scientific research presented at the “British Orthodontic Conference” at the
“United Kingdom” level in 2001. He published the first book entitled
“Foundations and Methods of Scientific Research in Medical Sciences.” The fifth
edition was published by Dar Al-Quds in 2022. As an international arbitrator in
a large number of international journals in dentistry during the period between
2003 and 2023.
He received an award of honor and a
certificate of appreciation from the Syrian Private University at a ceremony
held in July 2019 for the professors who contributed to raising the
international classification of the university through their published
research.
