Information

Ramallah-Women FM- Judge Iman Nasser Al-Din occupies the highest judicial position held by a woman in Palestine, as she was appointed as Vice-President of the Supreme Judicial Council as Vice-President of the Court of Cassation, which began working in the judiciary since 1982, by a presidential decree issued yesterday.

She began her career in the Palestinian judiciary in 1982, after she assumed the position of the first female judge in Palestine, and this journey resulted in a group of female legal professionals capable of occupying high positions in all legal sectors.

"This choice reflects women's ability to reach decision-making positions," Nasser al-Din said in an interview with "Nisaa FM" within the Sabah Nisa program. She added, "This title has been owed to me for years and after 35 years of working in the judiciary, where the appointment was a merit for fairness and equity for women."

Nasser El-Din spoke about the difficulties she faced in her field of work in the beginning, especially with regard to society's rejection of women lawyers or judges, but this rejection made her more determined and determined to challenge male domination. She added: "Women must strive to change the stereotyped image that spreads about them in Arab societies in general, and in Palestinian societies in particular, as a woman can assume a prominent position if she sets a goal in front of her and insists on developing her scientific and practical capabilities, and confronting those who want to thwart her with solidity and intelligence."

Nasser El-Din moved between judicial positions to confirm that the experience of women in the judiciary is not new, as she has proven her presence and capabilities in all the judicial positions she assumed.

She worked in all Palestinian courts of all gradations, conciliation, first instance, and appeal, until she reached the presidency of the Supreme Court of Justice, which is the last tier in the ladder of Palestinian courts, and worked as a judge in the Supreme Court itself, defying all societal obstacles during her daily work in the courts.
