Born in Kobar, near Ramallah, in 1954; received a high school diploma from Emir Hassan School in Birzeit; studied Hungarian Language and Economics in Budapest; worked as an academic advisor at Birzeit University from 1983-85; continued his studies and received a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Washington, USA; worked as Professor at Birzeit University (1994-97) and at Al-Quds University (1994-98); Board of Directors member of the Palestinian Writers’ Union from 1999-2002.
