Dr. Asaad Zuhair Tafal holds a BA and MA in Sociology from Birzeit University and a PhD in Social Sciences from Adam Mskiewicz University in Poland. His PhD thesis was on the subject of the Palestinian collective memory of the Palestinian refugee issue. He is now a specialist and activist in Palestinian refugee affairs and issues of immigration and asylum in general.
He also has other academic and research interests such as political sociology, anthropology, cultural and civilizational exchange, social theories, women's studies, and contemporary Arab political and social issues. He has published many scientific articles in high-level international research journals on various social, political, and cultural topics related to the Palestinian reality in particular and global culture in general.
He has actively participated in many local conferences with scientific research papers and sometimes as a moderator and chair of some sessions such as the Ibn Khaldun Conference and Social Service in Palestine.
He has also participated in many international conferences and conducted some cultural studies in many countries such as Poland, Germany, and Malaysia. He has made significant contributions within the Department of Sociology and Social Service at An-Najah National University in terms of holding many activities and events such as seminars, workshops, and scientific conferences.
He worked as an assistant to the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Head of the Department of Sociology and Social Work at An-Najah National University for many years and participated in many different committees within An-Najah National University and in the local community as well. He currently heads the Department of Social Work at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences.
