Naif Nimr Kharma , an academic professor and translator who worked in university teaching in the State of Kuwait and Jordan , has translations and scientific contributions.
His life
He was born in the city of Safad in northern Palestine in 1925. He received his education in Safad , where he studied the elementary stage, which was shared with the middle school, as they were one school, until the seventh grade. Then he moved to high school until he obtained the second secondary school certificate. Then he was chosen from among the students selected at the level of Palestine during the British Mandate to join the Teachers College in Jerusalem , which is an educational institute that follows the English system in preparing scientific cadres, and the students enrolled in it were required to reside in the internal housing prepared for them. At this institute, Kharma studied the principles of education and related subjects, in addition to historical subjects , geography , biology , and the Arabic language .
His academic biography
After graduating from the Teachers College in Jerusalem in 1942, he returned to his hometown of Safad , and was assigned to teach English to high school students. He spent one year teaching there. He then moved to work in the administration of the local council of his town, and was then appointed head of the municipal council for a period of time.
After the events of 1948 and the establishment of the State of Israel , Nayef Kharma moved to Syria , where he began his academic activity again. The educational station where he taught was the city of Tartous , where he taught English . There was an urgent need in Syria for someone to teach this subject, especially since the schools there lacked this specialization after they were subject to the French mandate.
After the arrival of the Kuwaiti mission authorized to contract teachers to Syria, he and his wife, who was a teacher, contracted. He moved to Kuwait in 1950 , and Al-Mubarakiya School (one of the first schools in Kuwait ) was his first teaching station, and he was assigned to teach English . He then moved to Al-Fahaheel School , where he accompanied his wife when she moved to teach in Al-Fahaheel , and taught there for four years. When Al-Shuwaikh School, the first secondary school in Kuwait, was established , Kharma became one of its academic cadres, and was assigned to teach English . During that time, he corresponded with the University of London through the British Consulate Attaché in Kuwait , and obtained a university degree from the University of London in 1957. He was tested at the British Council in Kuwait .
He traveled to study in London , where he obtained a doctorate degree. When he returned to Kuwait , he contributed to establishing the Language Center, and became its director in 1973 .
After Iraq invaded Kuwait and the United States regained control of Kuwait , the Kuwaitis oppressed the Palestinians, so he was forced to leave Kuwait in 1990 and head to Amman , where he joined the teaching staff at the University of Jordan . He was later appointed Vice President of Al-Isra University in Amman .
He died in Amman in 2004 .
