Majdi Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Maliki (August 22, 1960-) is a Palestinian academic who holds a BA in Sociology from Birzeit University in 1986. He obtained his MA and PhD from the University of West Paris Nanterre La Defense in Sociology of Development in 1994, and became an associate professor of sociology in 2006. He currently holds the position of Director of the Institute for Palestine Studies office in Ramallah.
His professional life
Majdi Al-Maliki has held several positions, including: Visiting Research Fellow at the Bisan Center for Research and Development since 1988, then moved to work as a social advisor at the Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committee in 1994, and coordinator of local and international NGOs at the Palestinian Economic Council for Development and Reconstruction (PECDAR) . In 1995, he was appointed a lecturer in the Department of Sociology at Birzeit University, Director of the Ibrahim Abu Lughod Institute for International Studies during the period (2002-2009), and Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Birzeit University during the period (2015-2020). He has been a research fellow at the Institute for Palestine Studies since 2008, and Head of its Research Department. He has participated in many local and international conferences.
