Faeq Hamdi Tahboub was a Palestinian university professor , historian, and member of the Fatah movement . He was born on September 25, 1932. He served as the International Commissioner of the Palestinian Scouts and Guides Association until his death on July 12, 2023.
His life
Faeq Hamdi Faeq Tahboub was born in the city of Khalil al-Rahman on September 25, 1932. He obtained a teaching certificate from the Teachers’ College in Iraq in 1953, then traveled to Kuwait , where he obtained a BA in History from Beirut Arab University in 1969, then a MA in History from Kuwait University in 1975, and a PhD with first-class honors from Cairo University in 1979. Faeq Hamdi Tahboub joined the ranks of the Palestine Liberation Movement (Fatah) in the 1960s through the movement’s organization in Kuwait, then became one of its most prominent lecturers in Jordan.
His career
After graduating from the Teachers' College in Iraq , Faeq Hamdi Tahboub traveled to Kuwait , where he worked as a teacher and rose through the ranks during the period between 1954 and 1978, becoming a school principal, then a school supervisor, then an educational guide, then a lecturer at the Teachers' College in Kuwait from 1979 to 1981. In 1981, Faeq Hamdi Tahboub was appointed, after obtaining his doctorate, as an assistant professor at the United Arab Emirates University until 1988. He then became an associate professor at the same university from 1988 to 1991. He then worked as an associate professor at the Teachers' College in Amman, Jordan , for one semester, then as director of the secondary stage at the Maaref College and Schools in Amman from 1992 to 1993. He was then appointed Deputy Dean of the Arab College for Academic Affairs from 1994 to 1995. In 1995, the late President of the Palestinian National Authority, Yasser Arafat was the Director General of the General Administration of Scouts and Guides at the Palestinian Ministry of Youth and Sports in Ramallah , a position he held until his retirement in 2012.
Scouting
Faeq Tahboub joined the scouting work since the fifties of the twentieth century through the scouting camps that were held in Iraq and Syria in 1957, and obtained the wooden scouting badge, and was among the leaders of the Arab scouting training in Morocco in 1963 and among the leaders of the international scouting training in Cairo in 1973. Faeq Hamdi Tahboub was elected President of the Palestinian Supreme Council for Youth and Sports in Kuwait and then in the United Arab Emirates, then became Vice President and International Commissioner to the Palestinian Scouts Association and then an elected member of the Arab Scout Committee on behalf of Palestine, and he also represented Palestine in many scouting conferences around the world, and was a member for several years of the Palestinian delegation to the Conference of Arab Ministers of Sports and Youth.

Faeq Hamdi Tahboub published many academic studies and research, including about six specialized research papers in politics and history published during the period between 1985 and 1990, in addition to ten research papers in various fields published during the period between 1968 and 2001. Honors and Awards
Faeq Hamdi Tahboub has been honored by many Arab and international organizations, as he received the Arab Scout Necklace in 1992. In 1998, Faeq Hamdi Tahboub received the Bronze Wolf Medal No. 267, which is the only medal awarded by the World Organization of the Scout Movement through the World Scout Committee to individuals who have provided exceptional services to the World Scout Movement. Faeq Hamdi Tahboub was the first Palestinian and the second Arab to be awarded this medal.
His death
Faeq Hamdi Tahboub died on July 12, 2023, at the age of 91, and was buried in his family cemetery in the Wadi Al-Seer area of Amman , Jordan .
