The Palestinian-Jordanian academic and Dean of Scientific Research at the University of Petra, Dr. Mayas Al-Rimawi, won the Gold Medal for Inventors presented by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Dr. Al-Rimawi’s record in pharmaceutical research includes 30 inventions registered in 75 countries as patents, a number of which were turned into commercial products.

The World Intellectual Property Organization, or WIPO, is an international organization affiliated with the United Nations, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The WIPO Inventors Medal was launched by the organization to stimulate innovative and creative activity around the world.
