Dr. Najwa Sa'ad Safadi is an Associate Professor at the University of Jerusalem, Department of Social Services. She earned her Ph.D. in Social Work from Boston College in the United States, a Master's degree in Social Work with a specialization in Community Organization from McGill University in Canada, and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Social Work from Bethlehem University in Palestine.
Dr. Safadi's research interests focus on social policies and poverty issues, with an emphasis on decision-making processes related to poverty policies, international aid, government performance, civil society institutions, and social services in countries of the Global South in general, and Palestine in particular. Her research has been published in several peer-reviewed international journals, and she has served as a reviewer for research abstracts at Arab and international conferences, as well as a peer reviewer for various Arabic and foreign journals. Dr. Safadi has also been the principal researcher in five major research projects related to welfare, domestic violence, and anti-poverty policies. In addition to her research, she has teaching experience and social work practice in Jerusalem and the West Bank.
