Abdel Rahim Badr, an astronomer, physician, painter and writer, was born in the city of Hebron in Palestine in the year 1920 AD. He graduated as a physician from Cairo University in 1945 AD and died in the year 1994 AD.

He was interested in studying astronomy, and with astronomer Khalil Consul, he founded the Society for Amateur Astronomy in 1987, which changed its name to the Jordan Astronomical Society in 1994. He was a member of the Jordanian Society for the History of Science.
