Amman, June 11 (Petra) – Jordanian researcher Dr. Mayyas Al-Remawi, holder of 70 international patents, won the Association of Arab Universities Distinguished Arab Researcher Award in Medical and Health Sciences. The Association of Arab Universities awarded the Distinguished Arab Researcher Award jointly to Al-Remawi and another researcher for their outstanding scientific production in the medical and health sciences category.
The university said in a statement on Sunday that the Association of Arab Universities has opened nominations for the competition in the field of medical and health sciences to all 330 Arab member universities and higher education institutions. This category includes all Arab academics in the health field, including medicine, pharmacy, and medical sciences. Al-Remawi, who currently works as a professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, has registered over 70 international patents during his scientific and research career, in the fields of pharmaceutical industries, the environment, materials development science, and nanotechnology.
Al-Remawi has also published numerous scientific papers on his patents, exceeding 40 scientific papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and has won numerous awards at the local, regional, and Arab levels. Al-Remawi's honoring came days after a research team he led won the Best Published Scientific Research Award for 2017 from the American Chemical Society, for research related to developing an oral insulin alternative to injections.
