Shakib Jamil Dalal (1920-1993) is a Palestinian nationalist politician and military. He was born in the Palestinian city of Tulkarm. He is one of the leaders of the Palestinian national movement, one of the founders of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, a member of the party, a member of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and a member of the Palestinian National Council (Parliament). His upbringing and educational attainment

Shakib Jamil Dalal was born in the city of Tulkarm in the West Bank in 1920 to a family consisting of a father, a mother and 8 children. He received his education in the schools of his city of Tulkarm, especially in the prestigious Al-Fadhelia School in the city, then joined the university to study law, and graduated from it to become a lawyer.

His father is Jamil Dalal from the city of Tulkarm, who is considered one of the leaders of the Palestinian revolution in 1936 and one of the mayors of Tulkarm. Among Shakib's brothers are: Rafeeq Dalal, and writer Shawkat Dalal.

 

His political and military life

During his early youth, Shakib Dalal participated in the Great Palestinian Revolution in 1936, then joined the Palestinian Arab Workers Party, known as the Palestinian Arab Workers Association Party, where he was a member and leader of the union during the general conference with Sami Taha, who was elected head of the party in 1943; Before Sami was assassinated on the evening of September 11, 1947, Shakib Dalal's alliance with Sami Taha formed an important strategic base for the Palestinian central cities (Tulkarm, Nablus, and Jenin).

 

In 1947, Shakib left for Syria and joined the leadership of the Arab Salvation Army. He met Syrian President Adib al-Shishakli, who was not yet a president. Shakib participated in the founding of the Arab Socialist Baath Party during the party's first founding conference between the fourth and sixth of April 1947 in the capital. Damascus, where Michel Aflaq was elected Secretary-General of the party, and Shakib Dalal was one of the founders and leaders of the party.

 

Shakib Dalal participated in several military battles against the Zionist Haganah Organization from 1947 to 1949. He was wounded during his attack in the Battle of Bisan in northern Palestine in 1947, only to recover from his injury a few months later.

 

Shakib Dalal became a member of the Palestine Liberation Organization, which was considered the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people; He was elected as a member of the Palestinian National Council, which is the supreme authority of the organization and which is also the parliament of the entire Palestinian people inside and outside Palestine.

 

Shakib Dalal had opposed the peace agreements and talks between the Palestine Liberation Organization and Israel, and had categorically refused to sign them, and he died while opposing and rejecting them.
