Salah Al-Zawawi (1937- ) Palestinian politician and diplomat. He has been the ambassador of the State of Palestine to Iran since 1982. He is called the first ambassador due to his long tenure as ambassador.
Salah al-Zawawi was born in the city of Safed in Mandatory Palestine in 1937 to a Palestinian father and a Lebanese mother. His family left and lived in Aleppo, Syria, in the fifties of the twentieth century as a result of the Nakba War.
In 1968, al-Zawawi assumed the position of the Palestine Liberation Organization's ambassador to Algeria, in 1975 he was ambassador to Brazil, and from 1977 to 1979 he was ambassador to Kenya.
