Information

Kayed Khalil Jaradat was born in the city of Sa'ir in 1956. He is married and has six children. He studied primary school in Sa'ir schools, obtained his high school diploma from Halhul Secondary School in 1974, and earned a bachelor's degree in English Literature from Aden University in the Republic of Yemen in 1980, a master's degree from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1990, and a doctorate in the philosophy of education from the same academy in 1997. He was appointed as the PLO's media officer in Yemen between 1976 and 1982, then as the Palestinian ambassador to Djibouti between 1983 and 1988, and as the Palestinian ambassador to Madagascar between 1988 and 1992. He served as a political commissioner for political guidance with the rank of colonel in the southern West Bank between 1997 and 2003, and as the director general of the Interior Ministry offices in Hebron, Halhul, and Bethlehem from 2003 until his retirement in 2012.
Jarradat joined the Fatah movement in 1975, became active in its ranks, and became its official in the Democratic Yemen region, and a member of its fifth general conference in 1988. He returned to Palestine in 1997, and was elected secretary of the northern Hebron region between the years (1999-2007), and was a member of the sixth Fatah general conference in 2008, and a member of the executive and advisory council in the Hebron governorate, and became mayor of Sa’ir in 2012.
Jaradat believes that no matter how frustrated the Palestinian people become, they will seek different means to achieve their goals and aspirations for liberation from occupation. He believes that the Oslo Accords were not a choice, but rather coincided with the state of weakness that the Palestinian people and their leadership were experiencing. He believes that the agreement does not represent the minimum of the Palestinian dream. He believes that the division is a crime against the Palestinian people and has created an individual and moral crisis more than a political one. He believes that the leadership must come down from its high horse a little for the sake of the people, and it must clarify matters and find out who bears responsibility for the continuation of the division. He affirms that the Palestinian people have the right to use all means to liberate their homeland, and that they should not spare any method or form of resistance in order to regain this right. He believes that the appropriate means of struggle at this stage is popular resistance, and he believes that it is necessary to include all political orientations in the Palestine Liberation Organization and its institutions, as the organization is not the monopoly of any one group, and there must be a political partnership based on the principle of partners in blood, partners in decision-making.
