Information
Ali Muhammad Hussein Abu Rish was born in the town of Surif in the Hebron Governorate on March 13, 1960. He is married and has seven children. He received his primary education in the schools of Surif, and completed his secondary education at Halhul Secondary School in 1978. He obtained a Bachelor of Medicine degree from Romania in 1985, and specialized in internal medicine and cardiology at Al-Maqasid Hospital in 1993. He worked at Alia Hospital in Hebron for a year and a half, then moved to work in his private clinic.
Abu al-Rish joined the Fatah movement during his university studies and became involved in its activities. He was harassed by the occupation and prevented from traveling several times. He ran for the Palestinian Legislative Council elections in 1996, supported by Fatah cadres, despite being excluded from the movement's list, and won. His experience in the Legislative Council and the developments in the Palestinian cause, especially the consequences of the Oslo Accords, led him to conduct self-reflection and decide to retire from political work.
Abu Al-Reesh believes that the future of the Palestinian cause is bright despite the bad reality that the Palestinian people are going through, and there is a dire need to work on new foundations and with a new mindset after all the methods that the Palestinian people have tried have failed.
He believes that the Oslo Accords are a trap into which the Palestinian people have fallen, and that the political action factions under it have become a burden on national action instead of being a support for it. Therefore, all Palestinians must work to get out of this trap. He believes that the division is a difficult stage in the history of the Palestinian people, ruling out any hope of ending it soon because of the positions of its two sides. He affirms the right of the Palestinian people to resist the occupation by all means, including armed resistance, and calls for the revival of the Palestine Liberation Organization, so that it may be a true and realistic representative of the Palestinian people with all its forces and factions.
