Hussein Fakhri bin Raghib al-Khalidi ( 1895-1966 ) was a Jordanian politician of Palestinian origin . He served as Mayor of Jerusalem from 1934 to 1937, succeeding Raghib al-Nashashibi . He was a member of the Jordanian Senate in 1959. He was also Prime Minister of Jordan for 9 days, from April 15, 1957 to April 24, 1957.
He was born in Jerusalem and grew up literary under the care of his father, Sheikh Ragheb Al-Khalidi . He graduated from the American University of Beirut as a doctor before the end of World War I and joined the Turkish army, where he worked as a doctor. After the Turks left the country, he joined the Faisal regime and was appointed to the Health Department in Aleppo .
He then returned to Jerusalem in 1920 , where he was appointed Deputy Director General of Health. Dr. Hussein Bey Al-Khalidi resigned from medicine in 1934 on the sixth of September and was subsequently elected Mayor of Jerusalem in 1934. He was exiled to the Seychelles Islands with a group of nationalists in 1937 , where he spent some time. He then returned to his country and was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan in 1953 .
