Information

He was born in Hebron in 1948 and completed his school education in the city in 1968. He earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees in Agricultural Engineering (Plant Sciences) from Ain Shams University in Cairo in 1981.

He began his career as a lecturer at the Faculty of Science at An-Najah National University in Nablus. In 1984, he was appointed Head of the Department of Agricultural Sciences at the university. He also worked as a visiting professor at the University of Davis in California for one year. In 1989, he achieved the rank of Associate Professor at An-Najah University.

In 1990, he joined Hebron University as an Associate Professor and later became the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. He is a member of numerous local, Arab, and international scientific associations. He played a significant role in founding the Department of Agricultural Sciences at An-Najah University, the Department of Agricultural Mechanization at the Polytechnic, and the Faculty of Agriculture at Hebron University.

He was a member of the Palestinian negotiating delegation in the multilateral talks on the environment and is affiliated with several charitable societies in the Hebron Governorate. He also served as President Yasser Arafat's advisor for environmental affairs and was the former Chairman of the Palestinian Environment Authority. Additionally, he served as the Minister of Agriculture of the Palestinian National Authority.
