Information
Dr. Bseiso is the first Governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority in 1994. He is a prominent Palestinian economist who gained his rich economic and financial experience through his participation in Palestinian, regional and international economic, financial and monetary work.
Dr. Fouad Bseiso holds a PhD in Economics from Durham University, UK (1982). He joined the United Nations during the period (1989-1993) where he worked at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia as Director of the Office of Programme Planning and Technical Cooperation, and as a senior regional advisor on development issues and policies. Through his work, he provided many advisory services to the Arab member states of ESCWA, including Palestine, which enjoys full membership in this international organization. Throughout his time at ESCWA, he chaired the working group tasked with examining development projects in Palestine.
During the period (1979 - 1989) he supervised the establishment of the banking and financial apparatus of the Joint Palestinian-Jordanian Committee, which assumed responsibility for the general supervision of the Fund to Support the Steadfastness of the Palestinian People in the Occupied Homeland, which was established by the Arab Summit in Baghdad in 1978. Through his responsibilities, he supervised the financing of economic and social development activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, and managed the investments of the support fund balances in cooperation with local, Arab and international banking institutions.
Between (1973 - 1979) he worked as an economic advisor to the government of the Sultanate of Oman and contributed to the accomplishment of many development tasks. He also contributed to the establishment of the Oman Development Bank, the Oman Mining Company, and the Fishermen's Encouragement Fund. He began his career at the Central Bank of Jordan during (1968 - 1973) where he worked as an economic researcher and then assumed the presidency of the Palestinian, Arab and Israeli Economy Department.

The Arab Boycott of Israel and its Economic Implications, Beirut, 1989.
“Preparing a Plan for Agricultural Development in the Occupied Homeland,” prepared for the League of Arab States (1987).
A book on “Development Cooperation between Arab Countries” published by the Center for Arab Unity Studies (1984), which was originally his doctoral research from Durham University in Britain.
A book on “The Israeli Economy between the Motives of War and Peace,” published by Dar Al-Jalil Publishing, Amman, 1984.
Dr. Bseiso previously served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Palestinian Economists Association. He was a member of several research councils including the Centre for Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies / Durham University / United Kingdom, and the Arab Society for Economic Research in Cairo. He also participated in a large number of Palestinian, Arab and international conferences.
