Omar Mahmoud Khader Shalayel, nicknamed Abu Rajai ( 1945 in Yibna - December 2, 2017 in Gaza ), is a Palestinian diplomat , politician , and civil engineer .
His life
Shalayel was born in 1945 to a Palestinian family living in the village of Yabna in the Ramla district . The Zionist gangs abandoned them in 1948 and took refuge in the city of Jabalia . He received his basic and preparatory education in UNRWA schools and his secondary education in Palestine Secondary School in Gaza City .
He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in 1970 from Alexandria University . During his studies, he was the head of the General Union of Palestinian Students at the university between 1968 and 1969, during which time he joined the Fatah movement .
He studied political science at the University of Khartoum , and obtained a master's degree in 1999, and a doctorate in 2004.
Practical life
He was Secretary of the Fatah Movement in the Libyan Territory between 1975 and 1983 and Acting Director of the Palestine Liberation Organization Office between 1980 and 1983.
On October 29, 1983, Libya asked the PLO representative to leave Libya.
He moved to work for the Mobilization and Organization Authority in Tunisia between 1983 and 1985. He became a member of the Palestinian National Council in 1984. He was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary of the Palestine Liberation Organization to Sudan in 1985 and served in the position until 2006. He was also President of the Supreme Council of Palestinian Engineers between 1986 and 1995.
On February 11, 2006, he was transferred to work at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs . [6] Its services were extended until February 25, 2007.
He taught at Al-Zaim Al-Azhari University in Sudan , and at Al-Azhar University and Palestine University in the Gaza Strip .
His death
He died on December 2, 2017 in Gaza City and was buried there.
