Suleiman Ahmad Igbaria (Hebrew: סולימאן אחמד אגבאריה) was born on November 4, 1957 in Umm al-Fahm. He is the third mayor of Umm al-Fahm, after Sheikh Raed Salah, since 2001 and 2003. He is one of the leaders of the Islamic movement in the Palestinian interior and responsible for the Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa file.
Educational and professional biography
Suleiman Ighbariya, a dentist, held the position of mayor in 2001 after Sheikh Raed Salah retired from municipal work. He was also responsible for foreign relations in the Islamic Movement prior to its ban in 2015. In May 2017, the Israeli Public Prosecution filed indictments against Ighbariya and other activists, claiming that they belonged to A “terrorist” movement is the Islamic movement banned by the occupation authorities. In January 2020, the Israeli Ministry of Health issued a decision suspending Agbariya's license to practice dentistry for a period of six months, claiming that he continued his activity in the banned (Northern) Islamic Movement.
