Assem Ghaleb Hafez Salem (born on June 4, 1958 in Nablus) is a Palestinian economist who, since April 2019, has held the position of Minister of Transport and Communications within the government of Muhammad Shtayyeh. He worked as a lecturer at An-Najah National University, headed the Friends of the University Association, and previously held the presidency of the Palestinian Universities Workers Union. He was a member of the Nablus Municipal Council, but he resigned on August 11, 2015. He headed the “Nablus Most Beautiful” list to participate in the 2016 Palestinian local elections, but later withdrew on August 25, 2016.
