Omar Saad Eddin Al-Khatib (Abu Shamikh; born 1936 in Jerusalem - died 25 January 2015 in Amman) was a Palestinian diplomat and engineer. He was Deputy Commissioner of the Western Sector and Palestine's ambassador to Jordan, and a member of the Palestinian National Council, the Fatah Advisory Council, and the Fatah Revolutionary Council.

Omar Saad Eddin Al-Khatib was born in Jerusalem in 1936. He received his primary and secondary school education in Jerusalem, and secondary school in Cairo. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce in 1960 from Cairo University, then left for Kuwait and worked in the Ministry of Public Works until 1963, when he returned to Jerusalem, where he formed with others a guerrilla group that later merged into the Fatah movement.

He left for Jordan after the setback in 1967, and began working within the western sector apparatus. After the events of Black September, he left in 1971 for Lebanon, and later was assigned the duties of Deputy Commissioner of the Western Sector Kamal Adwan, who was assassinated in 1973. He continued his position as Deputy Commissioner of the Western Sector Khalil al-Wazir until the Lebanon War in 1982. He was elected at the Fourth Conference of the Fatah movement in May 1980 A member of its Revolutionary Council, he was re-elected at the Fifth Congress in August 1989 and continued as a member until the Sixth Congress in 2009.

Diplomatic life
Between 1988 and 1989, he served as Director of the Palestine Liberation Organization's office in Jordan. Between 1994 and 1995, he was the ambassador plenipotentiary to Jordan and charge d'affaires during the busy period of Ambassador Al-Tayeb Abdel Rahim, and between 1995 and 2005 he was the ambassador of the State of Palestine to Jordan.

He died on January 25, 2015 in Amman, where he was staying due to a terminal illness. He was buried on January 26, 2015 in Sahab Cemetery in the capital, Amman.
