Sufian Sultan was born in the city of Hebron in the south of the West Bank, and received his school education there until he graduated in 1968, then joined Ain Shams University in Cairo, from which he obtained bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees in agricultural engineering.

Achievements and Awards
Sufian Sultan worked as a lecturer at An-Najah National University, where he was appointed as Head of the Agricultural Sciences Department in 1984. Later, in 1989, he attained the rank of Associate Professor at the university.
He worked for a year as a visiting professor at the University of California, Davis.
He joined Hebron University in 1990, where he was an associate professor and dean of the College of Agriculture.
Participated in the Palestinian negotiating delegation, specialized in environmental affairs.
He was appointed as an advisor to Palestinian President Yasser Arafat on environmental affairs.
He served as head of the Palestinian Environmental Authority in 1996.
He served as the Palestinian Minister of Agriculture after the first cabinet reshuffle in the Palestinian National Accord government in the period 2015-2019.
