Faisal Shraim is an instructor and dean assistant in Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at An-najah National University where he has been a faculty member since 1994. Shraim completed his M Sc. in Plant Production, from University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan 1993. He taught several courses in the Department of Plant Production and Protection. He has held numerous previous administrative positions, including manager of the Faculty farm, and students affairs head department. Shraim was born in Tulkarm in 1969. He is married and has three children.
Academic and Professional Biography
He holds a Master's degree in Plant Production from the University of Jordan, Jordan, where he studied in the Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Plant Production, from 1991 to 1993. His Master's thesis was entitled “Improving the Rooting Efficiency of Creeping Juniper Using Stem Cuttings,” with Plant Production as his major specialization and Plant Propagation as his specific field of specialization. He previously earned a Bachelor's degree in Plant Production from the University of Jordan, Jordan, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Plant Production, completing his studies from 1987 to 1991. His secondary education was completed at Al-Fadhlia School in Palestine in 1987.
His professional career has been primarily associated with An-Najah National University in Palestine, where he has served as a Teacher since 12 January 1994 to the present. Through his academic career, he has been involved in teaching and academic activities within the field of Plant Production and has contributed to research in areas related to plant production, plant propagation, crop physiology, agricultural practices, food preservation, and the utilization of agricultural resources.
His research publications include “Application of the Hurdle Technology Concept to the Fresh Za’atar (Origanum syriacum) Preservation,” an original research article published on 27 September 2022, co-authored with Samer Mudalal, Ola Anabtawi, Alma Irshaid, Mohammed Sabbah, Munqez Shtaya, and Faisal Shraim. He also published the original research article “Comparison between Quality Traits of Solar-Dried and Freeze-Dried Origanum syriacum L. (Za’atar)” on 20 April 2022, authored by Faisal Shraim. Another original research publication, “Influence of Salt Stress on Seed Germination and Agro-Morphological Traits in Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.),” was published on 6 September 2021 in collaboration with Munqez Shtaya, Hiba Al-Fares, Tawfiq Qabaj, Hassan Abu Qaoud, and Faisal Shraim. He also contributed to the original research article “Upgrading of Raw Wheat Straw Applying Fungal Treatment,” published on 17 June 2021. In addition, his academic record includes a conference paper published on 23 December 2009.
In the area of teaching, he has been involved in courses related to agricultural and plant sciences, including Principles of Plant Production (10911201), Vegetables Production (10911208), Principles of Forestry (10911351), and Agriculture in Palestine (10926226). His academic background, long-standing university teaching experience, and research contributions reflect a sustained professional focus on Plant Production and Plant Propagation, with research interests extending to crop production, seed germination, agro-morphological traits, medicinal and traditional plants such as Za’atar, food preservation technologies, and the sustainable utilization of agricultural resources.
