Abdullah Al-Afrangi (1943-) is a Palestinian diplomat and politician born in Beersheba . He studied primary and secondary school in Gaza schools, and joined a German university to study medicine in 1962. He was a representative of the Palestine Liberation Organization in West Germany between 1974-1990, the Palestinian Authority's ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany between 1993-2005, and the governor of the Gaza Strip with the rank of minister between 2014-2017. 

His upbringing

Al-Ifranji joined the Fatah movement in 1960, and was active in implementing its political and national activities . He worked to recruit Palestinian students and workers in Germany into the movement’s ranks in 1963 through the General Union of Palestinian Students and the General Union of Palestinian Workers. He was responsible for the General Union of Palestinian Students, Germany branch, between 1968-1972.

He was elected a member of the Palestinian National Council in 1972, and became director of the PLO office in West Germany between 1973-1990, then director of the PLO office in Austria in 1982, then ambassador of Palestine to Germany between 1993-2005. He was elected a member of the Revolutionary Council of the Fatah movement at the fourth conference in 1981, and the Central Committee of the Fatah movement elected him as head of the movement’s seventh conference. He was elected a member of the Central Committee of the Fatah movement between 1989-2009, and assumed responsibility for the Fatah movement in the Gaza Strip after his return to it in 2004 

Practical life

He was appointed as the General Commissioner for Foreign Relations of the Fatah Movement, issued by the Central Committee of the Movement in 2017. 
He was appointed Chairman of the Palestine Future Foundation in 2007. 
Al-Ifranji was appointed advisor to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for international affairs and with the rank of minister in 2010. 
Al-Ifranji was appointed governor of Gaza Governorate in 2014. 
The Central Committee of the Fatah Movement elected al-Ifranji as the head of the movement’s seventh conference in 2016. 
Al-Ifranji was transferred to work as a political advisor to the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, in 2017.
