Awni Muhammad Hamid Batash (Abu Muhammad; born July 11, 1937 in Jerusalem – died December 23 , 2020 in Oman ) was a Palestinian politician and diplomat , who was the director of the Palestine Liberation Organization office and its representative in Kuwait from the assassination of Ali Nasser Yassin until the entry of Iraqi forces into Kuwait in 1990. He returned to the Palestinian territories after the Oslo Accords , and in 1995 was appointed Director General of the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Arab Affairs, and later in 1997, he was appointed Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Sultanate of Oman and presented his credentials to Sultan Qaboos in May 1998 and remained in the position until 2005. An assassination attempt was made against him in Kuwait in 1980.
His death
Batash died on December 23, 2020 in the Sultanate of Oman , and was buried in Al Khoudh Cemetery in the Wilayat of Seeb, near the Omani capital, Muscat .
