Ahmed Jamil Arif Al-Hidmi (born October 16, 1947 in Shuyukh Al-Arroub – died October 16 , 2017 ) was a Palestinian politician and diplomat , who was the representative of the Palestine Liberation Organization to the Maldives , and later the Director General of the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Palestinian Ministry of Transport and Communications .
His life
Al-Hidmi was born in Shuyukh al-Arroub in 1947 to a Palestinian family. He received his school education between the schools of al-Arroub and Beit Ummar , north of Hebron , and studied Sharia at the Ibrahimiyya College in Jerusalem .
He joined the Fatah movement in 1968, and moved with it between Arab countries, where he worked in the movement’s region in Algeria , and in South Yemen as deputy Palestinian ambassador. In 1981, he was appointed representative of the Palestine Liberation Organization to the Maldives .
Israel allowed him to return after 1994 as a result of the Oslo Accords , and on November 20, 1995 he was appointed Director General of the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities , then Director General of the Palestinian Ministry of Transport and Communications and continued until he was retired on April 1, 2006.
His death
He died on October 16, 2017, after a terminal illness .
