Mahmoud Bakr Muhammad Hijazi (born in 1937 in Jerusalem - died
on March 22, 2021 in Ramallah) was a liberated Palestinian prisoner.
his life
He is the first Palestinian who follows the Palestinian National
Liberation Movement to fall into Israeli captivity. Born and raised in the city
of Jerusalem. He was taken prisoner after executing with a group of Palestinian
fedayeen an operation to blow up a bridge near the town of Beit Jibrin, on
January 17, 1965, after the Eilabun operation, where he clashed with the
Israeli forces and secured the withdrawal of the five members of his group, and
he was wounded, as a result of which he was captured. He was sentenced to death
by an Israeli, but the sentence was not carried out. He was released on January
28, 1971, after an exchange of prisoners (prisoner for prisoner) that took
place between the Israeli government and the “Fatah” movement, one of the
factions of the Palestine Liberation Organization. Accordingly, he was released
in exchange for the release of the Israeli soldier “Shmuel Fayez” who was
captured by the “Fatah” movement. At the end of 1969 AD.
In 2009, he won the Palestinian Revolutionary Council elections
that were held during the sixth Fatah conference in Bethlehem and became a
member of it.
