Jawad Muhammed Qutaish Awwad (born
October 7, 1962 in Sa'ir-) is a Palestinian physician and diplomat. He has been
the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Uzbekistan since 2022. He was
previously Minister of Health between 2013 and 2019, and President of the
Doctors Syndicate.
his life
He was born in the town of Sa'ir,
Hebron district, on October 7, 1962, and received his school education there.
He studied medicine in Ukraine,
after which he worked as a dermatologist.
He was elected president of the
Palestinian Doctors Syndicate - Al-Quds Center in 2009 and was re-elected in
2011 and 2013.
He was appointed Minister of Health
in the Rami Hamdallah governments, the first from June 6, 2013 to September 19,
2013, the second from September 19, 2013 to June 2, 2014, and the third between
June 2, 2014 and April 13, 2019.
On December 4, 2016, he won the
elections for the Fatah Revolutionary Council, which was held during the
Seventh Fatah Conference, and became a member of it.
On March 15, 2022, he was sworn in
by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as Ambassador of the State of Palestine
to Uzbekistan. On April 28, 2022, he presented his credentials to Acting
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Norov Vladimir Emamukych.
On January 31, 2023, Jawad Awwad
handed over his credentials as non-resident ambassador of the State of
Palestine to Kyrgyzstan.
