The deceased was born in the city of Nablus in 1930 to a family known for piety and devotion. He was the fourth son of Haj Abdul Latif Al-Azizi, who was known as the custodian of the trusts of the commercial market in Bab Al-Saha. He completed a little scientific education until he started trading in 1946. He was a successful, honest, and trustworthy merchant. He obtained an agency for major international shoe companies until the early seventies, when he began, along with a group of men of the country such as the late Sheikh Muhammad Radi Al-Hanbali, the late Haj Burhan Yaish, the late Haj Taysir Halawa, the late Haj Ali Rizq Al-Masri, Haj Adli Yaish, Haj Abdul Hamid Sharaf, Dr. Abdul Rahim Al-Hanbali, Haj Abdullah Al-Hajawi, and the rest of their colleagues, to seriously think about organizing and activating charitable work and collecting and distributing Zakat funds.
The Nablus Zakat Committee, which worked for decades to sponsor tens of thousands of orphans, needy families, and university students, also established Quran memorization centers, medical clinics, and rehabilitation projects for the poor, including agricultural, industrial, and productive projects. Among these was the Al-Safa Dairy Factory. This group of philanthropists also founded An-Najah Teaching Hospital, which the Zakat Committee later endowed to An-Najah National University. He was also a member of the Sharia Endowment Authority, the Reconciliation Committee, and the committees for the restoration and construction of mosques.
The deceased was known for his deep adherence to the pure Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). His religious lessons and sermons in the city's mosques had a positive impact on people's adherence to the Sunnah. He also established the unified call to prayer (Adhan) in the city.
The late Izzat al-Azizi spent the last thirty years of his life reading and collecting hadiths (sayings of the Prophet) relevant to interpersonal interactions, emphasizing the importance of honest and ethical business dealings. He continued in this way until he passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014.
