Jamal Al-Muhaisen ( Abu Al-Mu'tasim ; March 15, 1949 – February 7, 2022) is a Palestinian politician and a member of the Central Committee of the Fatah movement as Commissioner of Mobilization and Organization for the External Territories.

His life

Jamal Ahmad Al-Muhaisen was born on March 15, 1949 in the Hebron Heights during the forced departure of the people of the village of Iraq Al-Manshiya to the city of Hebron , despite the existence of an Egyptian-Israeli agreement to return to their village since it had not been occupied. However, when the Egyptian army left according to the agreement, Israel occupied the village on March 27, 1949, and prevented its people from returning to it. Jamal moved between Hebron , Beit Kahil , Beit Fajjar , Al-Arroub camp , and Aqabat Jaber in Jericho , then moved in 1960 to Amman in Jordan .

Jamal obtained a BA and a General Diploma in Education from Beirut Arab University in Lebanon in 1972. He was elected to its Student Council in 1969 as a candidate on the list of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah). He also obtained a Higher Diploma in Islamic Studies from Al-Fateh University in Tripoli in 1978, and a PhD in Philosophy, specializing in Comparative Education, from Charles University in Prague ( formerly Czechoslovakia ) in 1988.

President Mahmoud Abbas issued a decision to award him the Grand Star of the Order of Jerusalem on February 1, 2022 AD, “ in appreciation of his national role and honorable struggle, and in recognition of his contributions and leadership work in the ranks of the Palestinian revolution, in the fields of union work, and all the tasks he was assigned, and his efforts in defending the rights of his people and his homeland on the path to freedom and independence ,” according to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA). 

He published a book entitled “The Journey of the General Union of Palestinian Teachers” in 2015 AD. 

His positions

Jamal joined the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) in 1967, and between 1969 and 1972 he moved between the Jordan Valley in southern Lebanon /Rashidiya, Beirut- Sabra and Shatila , and in the north-Tripoli-Badawi, and was responsible for the organization and joined in turn in Tartous , Syria . In 1975 he became a member of the Mobilization and Organization Council in Damascus , and a member of the Palestinian National Council .

He was elected a member of the General Secretariat of the General Union of Palestinian Teachers in 1975 at the Second General Conference held in Tunis , and he also became a member of the Mobilization and Organization Office in 1983 in Tunis. He was elected Deputy Secretary-General of the General Union of Palestinian Teachers in 1983 at the Fourth General Conference held in Aden, Yemen .

In 1983, he became a member of the Arab Teachers Union Council and a member of the Executive Board of the International Federation of Teachers - Visa. He was elected to the Revolutionary Council of Fatah in 1989 at the Fifth General Conference in Tunis, and was also elected a member of the Financial Control Committee of Fatah from 1989 to 1995. He became a member of the Financial Fact-Finding Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization from 1991 to 1994.

He was Vice Chairman of the Movement Control and Membership Protection Committee from 1995 to 2009, and was appointed Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in 1994 and then Undersecretary of the Ministry. He became a member of the Movement Court since its establishment 2004-2008.

He was appointed Governor of Nablus Governorate in the West Bank with the rank of Minister in July 2007 until the end of 2009, when he devoted himself to working in the Central Committee of the Fatah Movement as Commissioner for External Territories. He was elected a member of the Central Committee of the Fatah Movement in 2009 at the Sixth General Conference held in Bethlehem, Palestine. He also became a member of the Central Council of the Palestine Liberation Organization for the Fatah Movement in 2009.

His death

He died on February 7, 2022 AD, corresponding to Rajab 6, 1443 AH, at the age of 72, as he had suffered from pulmonary fibrosis , after which he was transferred for treatment to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital and remained in critical condition until his death was announced.
