Information

Ibrahim Al-Daqqaq was born in Jerusalem in 1929. He joined Rawdat Al-Maaref National College, where he completed his secondary studies and obtained his Turkish diploma in 1947 . He studied science and mathematics at the American University in Cairo, worked in Kuwait as a teacher, then moved in 1959 to Robert College in Istanbul to study civil engineering and graduated as an engineer.

He supervised the construction of Al-Tira College for Girls in the city of Ramallah and the Jordanian Shobak School.

One of the leaders of Palestinian national action after Israel occupied the Palestinian territories in 1967 and one of the founders of the Palestinian National Front, which carried the burdens of organizing Palestinian political action in the seventies.

Secretary of the Palestinian National Guidance Committee in the Occupied Territory, which included mayors and factions of the national movement, which arose in the wake of the Camp David Accords. Head of the Engineers Syndicate in the West Bank from 1978 to 1986.

He contributed to establishing a large group of Palestinian civil society institutions, such as the Higher Education Council and the Arab Intellectual Forum, which he chaired from 1978 to 1992.

He chaired the Board of Trustees of Birzeit University in 1973 and was the founding director of the Al-Makassed Charitable Society Hospital in Jerusalem. He took over the task of rebuilding Al-Aqsa Mosque after it was burned in 1969 . In 2002, he worked on launching the Palestinian National Initiative with Dr. Mustafa Barghouti and Haider Abdel Shafi
