The young Palestinian man, Ismail Basil Ajjawi, is waiting to travel to the United States of America to begin his university studies, majoring in “physical and chemical biology” at Harvard University, one of the most prestigious universities in the world.
Ismail’s academic excellence during his years at UNRWA’s Deir Yassin High School enabled him to obtain a scholarship to Harvard University, which would pave the way for him to achieve his dream of studying medicine.
Ismail, who lives in the city of Tire in southern Lebanon, won first place in southern Lebanon and eighth in Lebanon in the official examinations for the high school diploma in the “Life Sciences” branch.
Despite the difficult political and social conditions that the Palestinian refugee lives in Lebanon, he still finds a place for creativity and excellence, and demands to be empowered for more creativity and to improve his living conditions.
