Majeed Al-Agha or Sufyan Abdullah Al-Agha (April 15, 1945 - April 27, 2007) was a Palestinian politician . He was a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council for Khan Yunis Governorate, a member of the Palestinian National Council, and a member of the Revolutionary Council of the Fatah movement . He served as Governor of Rafah Governorate .
His life [ edit ]
He was born in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, and received his school education there, then moved to Cairo to continue his university studies to study economics and political science. During his studies at Cairo University, he became acquainted with the Palestinian National Liberation Movement , which emerged in 1965, and joined its student ranks and organization. He then headed to intelligence work stationed in the Jordan Valley in 1968, where he contributed to establishing the nucleus of the Revolutionary Monitoring Service in Jordan with the martyr Salah Khalaf Abu Iyad, which was the agency charged with monitoring the enemy in the West Bank and occupied Palestine. He received his first training at the Institute of Strategic Sciences in Cairo and then in Vietnam and China.
At the end of 1970, he worked as a member of military intelligence in Syria and Jordan. The first martyr, Abu Jihad Majeed, formed the Special Force, the elite fighting arm responsible for guerrilla operations inside occupied Palestine, and whose members were able to carry out the most important operations against the enemy in that period, such as the Savoy Hotel operation and the Dalal al-Mughrabi operation. . Majeed Al-Agha was also known as a public intellectual, who regularly discusses cultural, political, artistic, and literary matters through meetings and seminars, despite his introversion and distance from the limelight. Through his personal experience as a Palestinian who grew up in post-Nakba Palestine, Majeed defended the Palestinian right of return and the establishment of the State of Palestine. He also criticized many Arab and Islamic regimes.

He participated in several delegations and official missions to European, Asian, African and Arab countries. Commissioned by the late President Yasser Arafat, Abu Ammar worked as a representative of the Fatah movement in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia . He worked as an advisor to President Arafat for security and information affairs. He was elected as a member of the Revolutionary Council at the Fifth Conference held in Tunisia in 1989. He was elected Vice President of Financial Control of the Fatah movement . He worked as a member of the Supreme Council for Palestinian National Security. And rapporteur of the Security Committee of the Revolutionary Council . Governor of Rafah Governorate until 1/3/2006. And a member of the current Legislative Council for the Fatah movement .
His death [ edit ]
Majeed Al Agha died on April 27, 2007, at the age of 62, leaving behind his wife and children. Samer, Abdullah, Abi, Uday, and Furat. His funeral was held after the afternoon prayer from the Grand Mosque in Khan Yunis, and he was buried in the family cemetery west of Khan Yunis. The general public, political parties, and many diplomatic representatives in Palestine participated in his funeral.
