The
administration of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the US
state of Wyoming has appointed Palestinian-Jordanian engineer and researcher
Penelope Shihab as head of the center, which she co-founded with a team of
elite professors at the University of Wyoming and the economic development team
of the state governor's office.
Penelope says
on her Facebook account, “It is a great honor to be trusted by the governor of
the state and the president of the university, and I consider this trust a
responsibility that I bear because I represent Arabs in leadership positions in
the United States. This position is an economic and political position because
it is the beginning of change and modernization of the business sector in the
state, which depends on the production and extraction of oil and gas in its
economy.
Penelope
Shihab holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Laboratory Medicine from the
Applied Science University, after which she completed her postgraduate studies
in Hematology, Biotechnology and Immunology at the University of Science and
Technology in Jordan. She also holds a master's degree from the London
Institute and a PhD in chemical engineering and biotechnology from the
University of Cambridge.
It has
patented a range of gastro-intestinal products, and was ranked 16th among the
100 most influential people in the world, according to Arabian Business
magazine for the year 2017.
