Walid Karkabi, a Palestinian architect from the Arabs of 1948 (born in Haifa), received a degree in architecture from Saint Petersburg, Russia in 1982. He is the Head of Antiquities Preservation in the Haifa Municipality. He has issued several studies and participated in many seminars that focus on the old buildings of Haifa, most of which were systematically demolished by Israel after 1948, and the current attempts to save and preserve what can be saved of buildings.
